Mider is often symbolized by three white cranes, the antithesis of Morrigu's three ravens. He is a son of the Dagda and the Morrigu. He is the guardian of the Righnach underworld. Mider shows that death comes to all in time, and is an accepted part of the cycle of life. He is also a god of negotiation and judgment regarding the dead, and has on occasion released a soul back from the underworld because of this. On occasion, he has fallen in love with mortal women, though all seem to be the reincarnation of his original bride.
